Anonymous asked: The ask about the black friend who thinks reverse racism is real got me thinking. I'm white, and sometimes POC who I know will say the same thing, or define racism as purposeful harm, or say that various things (I can't think of any examples right now) aren't racist, although I've seen from this tumblr and others that they are. In these situations I tend to stay silent. Would you suggest that I say something in these situations (and if so, what?) or continue to stay silent?
Internalized racism is a very powerful oppressive tool. In that it makes the slave think that all of the rules and regulations on the slaves’ head is their own and followed by their own volition.
that is the worst thing you can do to a person.
to purposefully make it difficult to engage with themselves.
when a person can not figure out if they believe something on a hyper individualistic level, it creates a dissonance that can only be resolved by
- understand where the source comes from
- understanding what parts they will personally reject or celebrate
- understanding which parts harm them, thus, must be thrown away for the sake of self-preservation
If you’d like to say something, I guess you can, but don’t push it when they get uncomfortable, unless you know them personally and can challenge their beliefs in a way that makes them know that they are being challenged so that they can grow and not challenged for the sake of being made to look stupid.
Anonymous asked: Why do I doubt that the admins of this page are PoC?
Because you are too lazy to click the links in the Description and see the links that Dion gave you so that you can hold all of the admins accountable for the things that they say at all times.

Anonymous asked: Why are people of color more than likely to be disrespected in foreign countries as opposed to the white people who have done disgusting things in the past?
Because on top of totally understandable Anti-America sentiments they have internalized through our American media, they also have internalized American racism as well. (I’m assuming you are American, my apologies).
So it’s hate on top of hate on top of intolerance on top of misunderstand and dehumanization.
Anonymous asked: "If you have no friends of color then don’t fucking write about people of color because chances are you can’t do it well and thus should not do it at all." could you explain that to me? :S
Most people draw references of their characters from people that they know or people whose personality type they understand(or think they understand).
White people as a monolith have a hard time doing that. So, my question to you is
Do you have any friends of color?
Because chances are you can write them as your character….you have access to a relationship with them and can ask them how they feel about your writing choices.
Or you can ask someone on tumblr if they would like to be a model character for you book.
JUST TALK TO PEOPLE SHEESH
If you feel as though you can’t do either of these chances are you shouldN’T be writing characters of color because you won’t even personalize and enter a relationship with one where it is either a freindship, acqueintence, or business arrangement ; etc.
So if you can’t do those things, just write all white characters and stick to what you are good at.
Anonymous asked: The other day, I was hanging out with a black friend and a white friend. I'm white myself. The other white person said something about reverse racism. I told her I didn't think reverse racism was real, and our black friend said "no, it's definitely real." What do I do in this situation?
this person is dealing with the affects of whiteness and so although they are a person of color. they don’t yet know the truth about whiteness and how invasive it is. whiteness allows for people of color to think that they have a false power over white people. this power is the only reason racism exists. but they don’t know that so they think the ugly feelings they know people of color have towards white people are actuallly racist thoughts. but they aren’t it’s because we as a white supremacist monolith decided that we were going to use language that surrounded and depended on the comfort of white people and racism is an accurate definition for how white people treat people of color so this friend feels as though they can apply the same thought to people of color.
your friend is wrong.
that reasoning is the same reason why people of color have not been able to properly take hold of their narratives and history the way say…Jewish people have…or Italian people have. Because Jewish people and Italian people have been normalized as white people by the monolith that is our society.
If you would like, you can reveal this truth to your friend.
Or you can sit back and let them deal with that cognitive dissonance on their own terms.
Or you can send them links from this blog and other blogs like ours and let them see for themselves.

Anonymous asked: I'm a writer, and am actively trying to include PoC in my writings. Do you have any advice as to how I can properly portray PoC? Should I approach a writing blog instead?
Are you white? Write your characters of color like your friends of color. If you have no friends of color then don’t fucking write about people of color because chances are you can’t do it well and thus should not do it at all.
Anonymous asked: Thank you for this blog. I'm a white person, and reading this blog is so eye-opening. But I have a question; personally, I don't like the word "ally" because I think it makes us seem like heroic soldiers, when really we're just being decent human beings. I was just wondering what you think about it? Anyway, thanks for making everyone (including me) aware of the oppression against PoC.
I know a lot of people mean well when they say ‘OMG, this blog is so incredibly eye opening’ but honestly it comes off as ‘OMG YOUA RE ACOMPLEX INDIVIDUAL WITH HISTORY AND FEELINGS AND ANCESTRY AND YOU FEEL A THINGS?? WOAH, YOU ARE JUST LIKE ME I DIDN’T THINK THAT AT ALL I THOUGHT YOU WERE MY HAND MAIN AND MY TOKEN BLAKC or FREIND OF KOLAR~ BUT NOW I KNOW YOU HURT AND HAVE FEELS TOO!11!!1’
That being said, I do like that you don’t like the word ally, because I, Renleigh, don’t like it either. I think it takes away from the hard fucking work and the heroic fucking people who literally have to deal with consequences of just finding and using thier voice to advocate for themselves. Though I like advocate better than ally. I don’t know how Dion or Sushi feel.
Anonymous asked: how about "to sir with love"?? :D

Anonymous asked: "Second, they shouldn’t beg people of color about their opinions and advice about race to alleviate their guilt like we are mammy milkmaids."- So, it's not appropriate to ask people of color of their perspective on issues? Do you mind explaining this a bit more? I honestly want to understand.
The operative word is beg as in a white person will refuse to leave you along until you give them your opinion(yes, white people you do this in our ask boxes and we hate it, that’s why we turned it off or turned off anon).
You can ask for a personal opinion but don’t treat us like we are all representatives with ambassador pins and the UN backing our every decision because we’re not.
Also, in cases of us reblogging stuff, please go back and ask the OP(orginal poster) because we don’t always know how they feel about what we interpreted and put on our blog. In this case we have the privilege of having the author of that post as one of our mods(HI MOM -Renleigh) but we don’t always have that.
Anonymous asked: Hi there! I know claiming to be color blind and ignoring individuals race is bad and invalidates their culture, but I was wondering if in Theatre color blind casting is bad. I hope I worded this right, and can expand on what I mean if needed. Thanks!
Why not just call it ‘blindfold casting’ because if you aren’t looking for a white person specifically and you are looking for just any person than you aren’t blind you just don’t care. Blind implies that you literally cannot see, and in a white normative society, you are assumed to be white when people can’t see you or identify your voice.

*note before I start*These are only a few things I thought of today which could answer your question seeing as this question is dissertation (broad but very heavy) worthy to begin with. Also, I’ve been on vacation and just got off the plane so this is 7 hours late and not proofread because most of this was started on my phone. I’m also probably going to get a lot of hate after I publish this saying how all of this is fairy tale and unrealistic but you asked so you get an answer*end note*
First white people would look at what they’ve done to society and stop seeing just greatness.
They’d see the Diasporas they’ve caused and instead of complaining when white guilt sets in, actively do things to change it. Get the fuck out of African Nations(give them back their free water supply, stop invading for oil, trees, metals, and gems). They would see the pain and the illness in this world and not pass over it in the name of Manifest Destiny, economy, profit gains, or means to an end. They would throw away Manifest Destiny from this day forth. They would apologies to Natives, and treat them with respect, they would lower the prizes of food on the rez, get them proper shelter, and get them off of all mascot, shirts, pins, backpacks; etc positions because they are people, not tokens. They would dismantle the KKK and other Brotherhoods(Aryan, Italian; etc). They would redo history books to include original thinkers and creators whose names were overlooked in favor of white apprentices/thieves. They would apologize and compensate the Chinese for the railroads they built. They would look back at the Industrial revolution and see how big of a role race played in getting Lithuanian and other migrant countries to accept lower wages and apologies to them. They would look at what it means to be white and understand whiteness for the step stool made of the backs of people of color fingers, and heads that it is. Look at projects,”ghettos” and jails and realized the historically the color scheme has gotten darker in those areas for a reason. White people during the IR moved into these places and when white privilege made it easier for them to move up in the word the broken down developments became home to more people of color than sometimes humanely possible. Respect Rroma people and understand that they suffer too. Stop calling them ‘g*psies’! They are not a costume they are a people who have long earned the respect white people have refused them. Speak to them about whether they want to be considered white people. Respect their lives. Give what they ask in terms of respect and resources.
And so and and so forth.
Second, they shouldn’t beg people of color about their opinions and advice about race to alleviate their guilt like we are mammy milkmaids.
They would do what white privilege denies them and that is be accountable for what happen and let* it mark their history because no one else (besides men in general) have gotten a free pass at globally editing history.
Third, when someone said or done something racist(in “isolated” incidents) there is no consoling the racist. Period.
They are to feel ashamed for what they have said or done because HISTORICAL WEIGHT GIVES NO JUSTIFICATION FOR SUCH THINGS TO CONTINUE UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE. POC HAVE SUFFERED ENOUGH FOR A MILLENNIA. Stop thinking other people of color can’t say problematic shit but don’t think that it’s OK to rip them apart for it either. Your boat for that sailed a long time ago. Say your piece and go away. Also, stop treating lighter people of color or straight haired people of color better than others. You are only adding to the disgusting institution your families created and uphold.
Fourth, I need media/Hollywood who ever to realize that people of color can have complicated roles, dark skin, natural hair, and are human beings.
Like Games of Thrones (obviously this story will contain more European/white characters)has 2 African descent person and he’s a pirate with less than 100 words combined if that. I’m tired of all of the stories, movies, books, making me feel like white people are the only people who ever had adventures, were heroes, have conflicts, and doubt their abilities even if they are excellent people. I’m tired of race being a way to real in viewers with controversy instead of because it makes the sense that people of color should be involved in everything white people are involved in. Shows like NBC’s Scandal need more light but I shouldn’t have to be excited because 5+ of the 14+ characters are people of color. The point is we have rich history and stories to be told to. They can be just as good as Harry Potter, Game of Thrones, Dexter, BBC Sherlock or Supernatural.
Fifth, white people realizing money is apart of privilege in a very real way.
Let’s see white people refuse their inheritance and give it the DREAM organizations or black youth or other self development organizations run by people of color. Find the families of your ancestors and pay reparations to children of laborers. Rebuild places like Newark, NJ where race riots are still historically visible in broken down/fire damaged buildings and NOT gentrify them like white people are doing now. Go to schools where white people aren’t the overwhelming majority in both classrooms and faculty rooms and see how different your education turns out.
Six, Most importantly. People of color are intelligent, efficient, and capable just like white people. Don’t think you need to coddle us forever.
Once we have sufficient tools for ourselves we will not stand for White Saviors; that’s just another way to keep people of color from being their own people and being their own heroes. We don’t need collective parents we need peers.
Don’t just live out change on the internet. Don’t just go to the projects for a class assignment. Actually cut off the white-only bootstraps and live with us.
So those are 6 or so ways I think racist institutions can be dismantled.
Anon will stay open for a while so stop in if you have anything else to ask. Also, just like when most of my loaded asks come in. I’ll be on Skype too: kingrenleigh.
Anonymous asked: Do you get tired of being angry? I'm not saying you shouldn't be angry, I'm just genuinely wondering how you feel about having to be angry.
I’m not angry, cracker.
