White people submitting their own white privilege
Something about this is bothering me. I’m not sure why. I’m glad that you’re acknowledging your privilege, like whoo hoo. But when you submit it, I get this weird feeling. Like you’re battling you’re demons in a place that was meant for POC to catalog white privilege. I don’t know. It just makes me feel weird.
Can I get some thoughts, poc?

The oppressor can’t decide what’s oppression, right? That goes for even if they’re saying what is a privilege or what’s not.

I think it’s okay that they’re doing it, AND okay that you’re calling it out. It’s a fine line between appreciation and appropriation.

As poc lady I feel its like “I know and acknowledge it! Am I right? Is this helping me learn?” With a touch of “Do you feel better?”

That makes sense. It IS weird, it’s like, white privilege is also being able to talk about it on your own damn blog and be a hero, you don’t

Some White folks I’ve come across like that act as though they are incapable of doing/saying racist things b/c they admit to some privilege.

This is a safe space for pocs making it uncomfortable. Poc experience white privilege way differently than white people.
