Rest in peace, Sherman Helmsley.

You had the courage to get on TV in the fucking 1970’s and call white people honkeys. You created some of the most socially aware, intellectually challenging television ever seen. You want to know how to tackle race on television? Look to The Jeffersons. Look to Good Times. Look to Maude and All in the Family. This bullshit “ironic racism” (which is actually just racism) that white folks have been shoving down our throats for the past few years on 30 Rock and Community ain’t shit compared to Norman Lear, the genius who had the courage to put Sherman Helmsley on television.

Sorry, I’m ranting, but RIP, Sherman Helmsley. Pour some out for your homie.
